Bust of Carle Vernet. Attributed to Jean Baptiste Antoine CADET DE BEAUPRE (1758-1823)

Probably the bust of the painter Carle VERNET (1758-1823).

Jean-Baptiste Antoine Cadet de Beaupré was admitted to the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture in Paris, and was the pupil of the renowned sculptor Claude Michel dit CLODION (1738-1814). In 1783 he was appointed professor of sculpture at the Académie de Valenciennes, then in 1800 taught sculpture at the academic schools of Lille.

In the public collections : * The museum of fine Arts of Valenciennes retains a lot of his works : « Nymph and satyr »,wax on slate– « Bust of Voltaire », terra cotta – « Bust of Catherine-Joséphine Duchesnois », terra cotta – among others. * Douai Museum of fine Arts : Statue of Louis XVIII, plaster model – « Bust of Charles Caullet », terra cotta.
