Provenance : collection of Mrs Antenor Patino, Sotheby's New York 1/11/1997, lot 159.

Jean de Bologne made this bronze around 1620, the original belongs to the collections of the Louvre Museum in Paris (OA9521) and comes from the collections of the King of France Louis XIV (1643-1715). The subject is inspired by Ovid's Metamorphoses.
