Two allegories of Abundance or seasons
17th century, circa 1670
Chased and gilded bronze. On a blackened wooden base

These two gilded bronze figures, which almost certainly adorned a rich cabinet, can be likened to the ornamentation of the great Roman cabinets of the early 17th century. However, in terms of their design and the quality of the chasing and gilding, they are closer to the work produced around 1670 for Louis XIV and his court, by the cabinetmaker Domenico Cucci (1635-1704).
