A rare set of four oil on canvas panels presenting great magnificent monumental vases, the background with a landscape or architectural ruins.

Provenance : Italy or France

Epoque : Circa 1700 

Dimensions : H : 58,3 in – W : 29,2 in

Those vases are realized after the drawings of Jean LEPAUTRE, made between 1650-1690, and which engravings made by Frederick de Wit in Amsterdam belong to the British Museum of London (British Museum inv. 1951, 1222.17, 1222.21, et 1222.26)

It is interesting to note that at the same period in Italy, the artist Massimiliano Soldani-Benzi (1656-1740) realized somptuous vases with the same style as the one of Jean Lepautre.
