A perfect example of the rocaille period in the mid-18th century, this beautiful sconce is inspired by a 1740 drawing by the famous ornamentalist Nicolas Pineau, now in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. The suite also illustrates the extraordinary mastery of sculptor and bronzemaker Jacques Caffieri (1678-1755).
