The Swiss artist Franz Kaisermann (1765–1833) moved to Italy at the age of eighteen and worked between Rome and Naples. In Rome, Kaisermann studied under Abraham-Louis-Rodolphe Ducros (1748–1810), another Swiss artist who also worked mainly in Rome. The Roman Forum, including the Temple of Castor and Pollux, became a recurring theme in Kaisermann’s work, as this drawing demonstrates.
