Pair of Louis XVI period torches with military trophies
Circa 1770-1780
Finely chased and gilded bronze. The base has a double projection decorated with godrooned motifs, a line of pearls and four lion skins. The shaft is in the form of an entwined lictor beam decorated with garlands of flowers and a sword and axe. A ring at the top features reserves alternating with knotted ribbons.
